European Women in Mathematics (EWM) is a European network that promotes gender equality and supports women’s careers in mathematics.
EWM Moldova was founded in 2006 when the first Moldovan women mathematicians joined the organization.
The activity has been coordinated from the beginning by Dr. Alexandra Tkacenko (photo), Associate Professor at the State University of Moldova.
Initially, 6 members were registered, and the number has grown over time.
To promote the participation of women in mathematical research, support young female researchers, and facilitate access to international networks and scientific events.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Moldova State University (USM) is home to a vibrant academic community where tradition meets innovation. It serves as the institutional base for the EWM Moldova chapter, supporting women mathematicians through teaching, research, and international collaboration. The faculty fosters excellence in mathematical sciences while actively promoting gender equity and empowering the next generation of researchers.
